Armistice 100: End of World War One

On the eleventh hour, of the eleventh day, of the eleventh month, the guns fell silent on November 11, 1918. The Imperial War Museum released a recording of the moment the World War 1 ended.

The First World War was claimed to be the "war to end all wars" but should have been called "the war to debase human life." 17.5 million were killed and 23 million wounded in World War One. The war to end all wars gave birth to the first communist dictatorship and in its aftermath to Nazism. Over the next 27 years new lows would be reached in the gulags, death camps, death marches, and nuclear bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki and an even more disastrous Second World War.

It is important to remember and never forget those who fought and died in order not to repeat this tragic history.

Today is recognized by the United Nations as the International Holocaust Remembrance Day and is observed around the world but not in Israel. In Israel in 2016 Holocaust Day (Yom HaShoah ) will be observed on May 4th beginning at sundown and ends on the evening of May 5th.

Memory and truth are needed to stop it from happening again. There are memorials around the world and acts of remembrance. Listen to those who were there and survived to bear witness. We must never forget this evil event.

The Christian Liberation Movement (MCL) wishes to invite you to the celebration of Holy Mass in thanksgiving for the life of Oswaldo and Harold. The Eucharist will take place at the Colon Cemetery Chapel on Monday, 22 of July at 3 pm. As a gesture it is asked, in addition to your presence, bring a flower for the celebration culminated, make a pilgrimage to the place where rest the remains of our beloved Oswaldo. If possible, extend this invitation to all who wish to share in this moment.

La Eucaristía tendrá lugar en la Capilla del Cementerio de Colón el día lunes 22 de julio a las 3 pm. Se pide como gesto, además de su presencia, llevar una flor para culminada la celebración, peregrinar hacia el lugar donde descansan los restos de nuestro querido Oswaldo.
