Remember and condemn the October 7th Hamas terror attacks on Israel, and those who back them

 #RememberOctober7 #CubansStandWithIsrael

On September 26, 2024 the Israeli military carried out an airstrike while Hezbollah leaders were meeting at their headquarters in Dahiyeh, south of Beirut. Killed in the attack was Hassan Nasrallah, the long time leader of the terrorist group.

Miguel Díaz-Canel, Raul Castro’s handpicked president, denounced Israel on X, “We condemn the cowardly targeted assassination of Hassan Nasrallah, Secretary General of Hezbollah, as a result of Israel’s attack on residential buildings in the southern suburbs of Beirut, causing destruction and death of innocent civilians.”

This is in sharp contrast to the Cuban government's response to Hamas' terrorist attacks on Israel on October 7.

One year ago, on October 7, 2023, Hamas and Islamic Jihad, Iranian proxies, invaded and attacked Israel, killing over 1,200 Israelis and foreign nationals (including 46 Americans ) and seizing 251 hostages
The United Nations' inquiry commission "verified information concerning the deliberate targeting of civilian women, including the killing, abduction and abuse of women, as well as the desecration of women's bodies, sexual violence and other gender-based crimes. This was the largest mass murder of unarmed Jewish civilians since the Holocaust.

This terrorist attack sparked a Middle East war that began between Israel and Hamas, a terrorist organization based in Gaza. The war expanded into Lebanon when Hezbollah, another Iran proxy, on October 8, 2023 began launching rockets into northern Israel

Friends and allies of the Jewish people condemned the attack and mourned the victims. International communist networks, led by the Marxist-Leninist dictatorship in Cuba took a different approach.

Cuban official media spokespersons Leticia Martinez, chief of communications for Miguel Diaz-Canel, and "El Necio" took to social media to celebrate a "Free Palestine" and justify terrorist attacks. He retweeted the People's Forum's genocidal call on October 8, 2023 to abolish the Israeli state, which included the phrase "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free!"

On October 8, 2023, one day after the terror attacks in southern Israel, militant leftists held a protest in Times Square to commemorate the killings as an act of resistance, chanting anti-Semitic slogans, waving banners and posters. The Center for a Free Cuba was aware of the protest at the time, as well as the promotion of it by official Cuban media.

On October 8, 2023, the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Relations published a statement criticizing Israel's "impunity," describing the Jewish state as an occupying force and the United States as historically complicit.

Dictator Nicolas Maduro in Venezuela, Dictator Daniel Ortega in Nicaragua , President and former M-19 terrorist Gustavo Petro in Colombia refused to condemn the terrorist attacks on Israel, while calling for the end of the “illegal occupation of Palestine” on October 7, 2023.

On October 11, 2023, The People’s Forum (TPF) issued a statement defending their October 8th rally in Times Square, doubling down on their support for the terrorist attack.

The group’s co-executive director, Manolo De Los Santos, is a longtime researcher at the Tricontinental: Institute for Social Research and was “based out of Cuba for many years,” where he “worked toward building international networks of people’s movements and organizations,” according to his biography at the anti-Israel group Black Alliance for Peace.

On November 23, 2023, the Cuban dictatorship organized a 100,000-person pro-Hamas march with prefabricated banners, and posters featuring photos of Hamas militants such as Abu Obaida carried by Cuban youth.

In July 2022, Cuba’s president, Miguel Díaz-Canel, received De los Santos and executive director of Tricontinental: Institute for Social Research, Vijay Prashad with the aim of “elaborating a new consensus, based on theory and according to the different experiences of social movements and countries, on the path of socialism.”

Official Cuban journalist Pedro Jorge Velázquez, who goes by the pseudonym El Necio on X with over 157,000 followers has been graphically repackaging antisemitic tropes out of the "Protocols of the Elder of Zion" and spreading blood libels against the Jewish people far and wide in threads on X since the Hamas terror attacks on Israel on October 7, 2023 which he described as "Palestinian resistance launches unprecedented offensive in Israeli territory."

Independent voices in Cuba that sympathize with the Israeli people threatened and silenced.

Christian Solidarity Worldwide in their 2024 Annual Report on Cuba informed that "In the final months of [2023] numerous Protestant pastors from both registered and unregistered religious denominations across the island were summoned for interrogation in regard to comments they had made about Israel. In each case, the pastors were told that that expressing any kind of support for Israel was unacceptable, they were ordered to stop praying for Israel or, in one case, for the ‘peace of Jerusalem’ and told that any commentary on the situation must be in line with the position of ‘the Revolution and the CCP’ [ Cuban Communist Party].

Advancing antisemitic tropes, and the destruction of Israel

On January 24, 2024 Manolo De Los Santos spoke the quiet part out loud at The People’s Forum in New York City: “When we finally deal that final blow to destroy Israel. When the state of Israel is finally destroyed and erased from history, that will be the single most important blow we can give to destroying capitalism.”

De Los Santos is echoing Karl Marx’s early formulation of communism which is antisemitic and offers a “solution” to the “Jewish Problem.”

“Money is the Jealous God of Israel, beside which no other God may exist. Money abases all the gods of mankind and changes them into commodities. The god of the Jews has been secularized and has become the god of the world. In emancipating itself from hucksterism and money, and thus from real and practical Judaism, our age would emancipate itself…by destroying the empirical essence of Judaism, the Jew will become impossible.” Source Karl Marx-Engels Collected Works (London 1975ff),vol. iii, pp146-74

“The People’s Forum” (TPF) is funded through Goldman Sachs and linked to the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL). Both its executive directors Manolo De Los Santos and Claudia De La Cruz are PSL members, and active supporters of the Cuban communist dictatorship. TPF put out an advertisement in The New York Times in October 2022 that repeated numerous propaganda claims by the Cuban dictatorship, and was rebutted by the Center for a Free Cuba

Prior to another Pro-Hamas March in Havana on March 2, 2024, Cuban president Miguel Diaz-Canel in a video tweet on X accused Israel of a new genocide and operating an "extermination camp" in Gaza in which he said that five months ago, “humanity witnessed with horror a new holocaust.”

Remembering when Fidel and Raul Castro allied with Arab states, and militarily attacked Israel

Castro severed diplomatic ties with Israel on September 10, 1973, just days before the Yom Kippur War began, fifty one years ago, on October 6th. There were no outstanding bilateral issues between Cuba and Israel. During that war, 3,000 Cuban soldiers participated in the attack on Israel, alongside forces from Egypt and Syria, and expeditionary forces from Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Jordan, Iraq, Libya, Kuwait, Tunisia, Morocco, and North Korea. Soldiers left Cuba bound for Syria, dressed in civilian clothes, with forged passports identifying them as university students. Soviet military equipment, including T-62 tanks and SAM rocket artillery, were provided to them. Cuban tank crews fought alongside Syrian troops in their war of aggression. According to Foreign Report, 180 Cubans were killed and 250 were injured in that conflict.

Cuban combat troops remained in Syria until 1975

Below is the documentary in Spanish by Abraham Rivera from 2020 on the Yom Kippur War.

This hostility towards Israel did not end when Cubans left Syria in 1975, but the Havana regime continued to aid and train terrorists in the Middle East, and allowed Hezbollah to set up a base in Cuba.

Today, the Cuban dictatorship, both directly and through Venezuela, continues to provide support to Hamas, and Hezbollah as it has for decades. Cuba is a state supporter of terrorism all throughout the world, including in the Middle East, where it has long harbored animosity for Israel.

Cuba is a state sponsor of terrorism around the world, including in the Middle East, with a decades long hostility against the state of Israel. The Cuban dictatorship has a problem with Jewish people.

They repeat old Soviet lies about the state of Israel, and refuse to recognize that the Jewish people are the original inhabitants of what is today Israel.

Free Cubans on the other hand recognize the historical facts, and today join with our Jewish brother, and sisters in remembering the atrocities committed on October 7, 2023, and call for the hostages to be freed, and the Islamic Regime of Iran, and their terrorist proxies to end their war against Israel.

Ten months after October 7th: Know your enemy

Communist intersectionality: Celebrating terror attack on Israel; burning U.S. flags outside of Union Station while flying Cuban and Palestinian flags; and advancing antisemitic tropes to back Nicolas Maduro in Venezuela.

Hostages taken by Hamas in October 7, 2023 terror attacks.

Ten months ago on October 7, 2023, Hamas, an Iranian proxy, invaded and attacked Israel killing 1,200 and taking 240 hostages. This strike ignited a Middle East war between Israel and the terrorist organization Hamas, which has its base of operations in Gaza. This was the largest mass killing of Jewish people since the Holocaust. Friends of the Jewish people condemned the attack, and mourned the dead. International communist networks took a different approach.

In the midst of this barbarism and evil, Castro Regime spokesman "El Necio" cited Che Guevara's visit to Gaza as inflection point that turned Palestine into a world cause, and posts photos of the Argentine guerilla with Middle East leaders during a visit there at the start of the Cuban dictatorship. He lies about Israel calling it a "Zionist colonization" without recognizing Jewish people as indigenous to this their ancestral lands. He claims that Guevara is the inspiration for the "resistance" i.e. terrorist barbarism taking place today, and concludes his rant with "Che Lives."

The Cuban government, and their agents of influence did not limit themselves to cyberspace.

Protesters outside Union Station.

On July 24, 2024, protesters carrying Hezbollah, and Hamas flags sprayed graffiti, burned American flags, and beat up police officers in Washington DC.  One protester carried a poster with  mushroom cloud over an Israeli flag that said "Allah is gathering all the Zionists for a final solution."

Protesters pulled down American flags from three poles outside Union Station while demonstrating, replaced them with Palestinian flags then burned the U.S. flags. However the publication Spiked captured an image of a Cuban flag flying among the Palestinian flags at the protests in Washington DC in their article, A fascist rally in Washington, DC.”

Islamist terrorist group celebrates anniversary of the founding of the July 26 Movement.

On July 26, 2024, the Samidoun,  a terrorist organization and “a subsidiary of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP),” published a revealing statement celebrating the “71st anniversary of the July 26th Movement.”  Their statement repeats a number of the Cuba dictatorship’s talking points, but reveal some things Havana would prefer were dealt with more discretion.

On the 71st anniversary of the launch of the great Cuban revolution, the storming of the Moncada Barracks on 26 July 1953, Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network salutes the Cuban people, their continuing revolution, and the ongoing alliance between the people of Cuba and of Palestine to confront Zionism, imperialism and reaction.

Samidoun’s argument for Cuba not belonging on the state terror sponsor list does not help Havana. It exposes the role the Cuban dictatorship in inspiring Palestinian terrorism in the 1960s.

“Havana, Cuba, launched the Tricontinental Conference in 1966, which led to the development of OSPAAAL (Organization of Solidarity with the People of Asia, Africa and Latin America), whose posters for the Palestinian revolution — and other anti-imperialist struggles — have remained indelible symbols of the common cause of justice. Through this revolutionary struggle, the deep alliance between the Cuban and Palestinian revolutions was born. Cuba has consistently supported the Palestinian liberation struggle on multiple levels, and the Palestinian and Cuban flags have risen as twin banners of liberation everywhere in the world, reflecting the common confrontation of imperialism, Zionism and their reactionary agents everywhere.

In Palestine, the Cuban revolution has always had particular resonance. Che Guevara visited Gaza in 1959, shortly after the victory of the revolution, as part of the Non-Aligned Movement and the alliance of anti-colonial forces. According to Palestinian scholar Salman Abu Sitta, Guevara urged the Palestinians to develop their training camps, weapons production and people’s mobilization centres.”

They go further in equating the Cuban government with Hamas, the Islamic Resistance Movement; the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine; Hezbollah, and other terrorist groups they euphemistically call “resistance forces,” and claim they are not terrorists while also acknowledging that they view “all means” as legitimate.

Cuba, reminiscent of Hamas, Hezbollah

“Cuba is also currently labeled as a “state sponsor of terrorism” by the United States, being designated in a clear attempt to impose political, economic and military pressure on Cuba to give up their sovereign and socialist path of development. This is reminiscent of the case of Palestine, where Palestinian resistance organizations, including Hamas, the Islamic Resistance Movement; the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement; the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine; Hezbollah, and many other resistance forces, are labeled as “terrorist organizations” by the US, Britain, European Union and Canada in an attempt to undermine the Palestinian people’s justified and legitimate struggle by all means, including and especially armed struggle, to achieve their liberation.”

This confirms that the Cuban dictatorship has a problem with Jewish people, the state of Israel, and  in the 2024 documentary, Terrorism: the Cuban Connection demonstrates that Cuba is a state terror sponsor. It also confirms that the dictatorship in Cuba has a serious problem with Jews. July 26th should not be a day of celebration, but of somber reflection on the darkness that began to envelop Cuba in 1953, and has endured to the present day on that island.

Advancing antisemitic tropes to back Nicolas Maduro in Venezuela.

The Washington Post on August 4, 2024 reported they had independently reviewed "23,000 precinct-level tally sheets collected by the opposition, a sample that represents nearly 80 percent of voting machines nationwide." They found that González had beaten Maduro by over two to one.

The Post extracted and analyzed data from 23,720 of the tally sheets that were scanned and posted online by the opposition. Of those, González earned 67 percent of the vote to Maduro’s 30 percent.

Those tally sheets represent 79 percent of the voting tables used on July 28. Even if Maduro won every vote on the remaining 21 percent, assuming a similar turnout, he would still fall more than 1.5 million votes shy of González.

A day earlier, Nicolas Maduro claimed that the protests in Venezuela are "financed" and "supported by international Zionism." The People's Forum posted on X the lie that "U.S.-backed Zionists who are unleashing violence in an attempt to overthrow President Nicholas Maduro and the Venezuelan people’s socialist project."

None of this should be a surprise. First, communist lie in the service of their political project, and two communists allied with Nazis in the past, and rounded up Jewish people for the death camps during the first two years of World War 2.

Manolo De Los Santos went from celebrating Hamas's massacre of Israelis on October 8, 2023 in Times Square, to hanging out with the Cuban dictatorship's inner circle in Havana, and today is in Venezuela backing Maduro's theft of the election, and crackdown on Venezuelans.

Hezbollah and Hamas commit acts of terrorism around the world, with support from Havana, and today protesters in Washington DC celebrated these terrorist groups while burning American flags

Eighty-five Argentinians, many but not all Jewish, were killed by Hezbollah on July 18, 1994, in an act of international terrorism when the Argentine Israelite Mutual Association (AMIA) building in Buenos Aires was blown up.

A siren sounded at the precise time a Hezbollah suicide bomber, Ibrahim Berro, drove a car laden with explosives in front of the AMIA, and pressed the detonator setting off the explosion on July 18, 1994 at 9:53am (1253 GMT) and reduced the seven-story Jewish-Argentine Mutual Association (AMIA) community center in Buenos Aires to rubble reported the BBC.

85 people were murdered ranging in age from five years old to 67 years old and more than 300 hundred wounded. 30 years later those responsible for this act of terrorism remain at large.

The American Jewish Committee called it “the deadliest antisemitic attack outside Israel since the Holocaust.”

This was true until October 7, 2023 when Hamas invaded Israel, and carried out a terrorist attack against civilians murdering 1,200 people in Israel.

Leticia Martinez, head of communications for Miguel Diaz-Canel posted a message celebrating a “Free Palestine” in the aftermath of the October 7th terrorist attacks on her social media.

She was not alone.

In the midst of this barbarism and evil, Castro Regime spokesman "El Necio" cites Che Guevara visit to Gaza as inflection point that turned Palestine into a world cause, and posts photos of the Argentine guerilla with Middle East leaders during a visit there at the start of the Cuban dictatorship.  Truth squad for Israel

These Islamists and communists continue to spread a number of lies against the Jewish people. One of the most outrageous is to deny that Israelis are the indigenous people to the land they inhabit.

The Jewish people are indigenous to the land they live on today, and also lands inhabited by Palestinians, such as Gaza and the West Bank. Three thousand years ago the state of Israel was dominated by a Jewish community, until they were conquered by the Roman Empire in 63 BC. Over the next two thousand years, empires would rule over Israel, to be replaced by another until the British Empire in the 20th century when the Jewish people reclaimed their homeland, and were recognized by the United Nations in 1948.

The Cuban dictatorship has spent decades slandering Israel. Fidel Castro personally equated the Jewish state with Nazi Germany, and the communist regime has promoted antisemitic tropes, and discriminated against Cuban Jews.

What of these libels against Israel?

Numbers do not lie, but the Communists and their Islamic allies do.

In 1933 there were 9.5 million Jewish people living in Europe. Following the Nazi holocaust, the Jewish population in Europe in 1950 was reduced to 3.5 million. The world Jewish population in 1939 was 16,728,000, and in 1945 it had shrunk to 11,000,000.

Palestinians and the Castro dictatorship for decades have accused, and continue to accuse, Israel of “ethnic cleansing” and “genocide”.

In 1948 there were 1.4 million Palestinians living in what is today, Israel, Gaza, and the West Bank. Today there are 7 million Palestinians living there, and 7.05 million living in the diaspora.

The Palestinian population under 75 years of Israeli “occupation” has grown five fold, and the total world population has grown. This is the antithesis of what happened to Jewish people during the Nazi regime both in Europe, and worldwide.

Since the 1960s Cuba’s communist dictatorship has trained terrorists to attack Israel. In 1973 the Castro regime sent 3,000 Cuban troops to Syria, and invaded Israel on October 6, 1973.

It is not surprising that hours after Hamas terrorists entered Israel on October 7th killed 1,200 Israelis, wounded over 3,360, launched over 6,300 rockets, murdered, raped, and kidnapped civilians; Havana and The People’s Forum blamed the victims.

AMIA: 30 years later still no justice for victims of terrorist attack that killed 85 people

30 years of impunity in Argentina

AMIA cultural center bombed in Buenos Aires in 1994

In the span of a week in July 1994, two acts of terrorism killed over 122 Latin Americans. Thirty-seven Cubans were murdered by by Cuban government agents on July 13, 1994, in what amounted to an act of state terrorism, and eighty-five Argentinians, many but not all Jewish, were killed by Hezbollah five days later, on July 18, 1994, in an act of international terrorism.

Much has been written about the victims of the "13 de Marzo" massacre in the last week, but today, marking thirty years since the bombing of the Argentine Israelite Mutual Association (AMIA) building in Buenos Aires, the reality that justice has yet to be served demands that we speak up.

Justice delayed is justice denied. The World Jewish Congress reports that this act of terrorism was carried out by Hezbollah and supported by Iran.

Havana has permitted the terrorist organization Hezbollah to establish "an operational base in Cuba, designed to support terrorist attacks throughout Latin America," according to emails hacked from then-US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in 2016. The Cuban dictatorship has a decades long relationship with this terrorist movement, and has a serious problem with Jews.

What happened thirty years ago today in Buenos Aires?
A siren sounded at the precise time the bomb exploded on July 18, 1994 at 9:53am (1253 GMT) and reduced the seven-story Jewish-Argentine Mutual Association (AMIA) community centre in Buenos Aires to rubble reported the BBC.

AMIA: 27 years later still no justice for victims of Hezbollah terrorist attack that killed 85 people and the Castro regime's links to this terrorist group

27 years of impunity in Argentina and the Castro regime's links to the terrorist group responsible

AMIA cultural center bombed in Buenos Aires in 1994

Within the span of a week in July of 1994 two acts of terrorism murdered 122 Hispanics. Thirty seven Cubans were murdered by agents of the Cuban government on July 13, 1994 in what amounted to an act of state terrorism and eighty five Argentinians, many but not all Jewish, in an act of terrorism carried out by Hezbollah  five days later on July 18, 1994.

Hezbollah

Relationship between Hezbollah and the Castro regime

Hezbollah, the terrorist group based out of Lebanon, also backed by Iran, was established in 1985, opened an office in Havana in 2011 and since then has dug tunnels from Beirut to within 3 kilometers of Israel’s border to enable the covert movement of forces. The Castro regime has an extensive history of cooperating with and training Middle East terrorists.

Over the past week much has been written about the victims of the "13 de Marzo" massacre but today on the eve of the 27th anniversary of the bombing of the Argentine Israelite Mutual Association  (AMIA ) building in Buenos Aires the fact that justice has still not been achieved requires speaking out.

Decades long relationship between the Castro brothers and the Iranian mullahs needs to be looked at

Iran's Hezbollah outposts in Cuba and Venezuela have been working against U.S. interests for years.

The assassination by U.S. airstrike of Iran’s General Qasem Soleimani on January 3, 2020 and the warnings of reprisals by Iran and the concern that they may mobilize terrorist cells to attack Americans requires a reassessment of threats. It necessitates revisiting Iran's presence in the Western Hemisphere. It also requires identifying key long term allies of the Iranian regime.

Cuba and Iran have regime's with different ideological formations. Cuba has a communist dictatorship run by the Castros since 1959 and Iran has a Islamist regime run by the mullahs since 1979. However they have two things in common: a profound anti-Americanism that portrays the U.S. as the great Satan, and a fossilized revolutionary tradition that systematically denies human rights to their respective peoples. Robin Wright referred to them as "melancholy twins" in The New Yorker in 2015.

But beyond their similarities they also have a shared strategic outlook that is hostile to the United States.

The late Fidel Castro visited Iran on May 10, 2001, four months before the September 11, 2001 attacks, where he was quoted by the Agence France Presse at the University of Tehran stating that "Iran and Cuba, in cooperation with each other, can bring America to its knees." ... "The U.S. regime is very weak, and we are witnessing this weakness from close up."

Eleven years later on January 12, 2012 in Havana, Cuba the controversial president of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, declared "Our positions, versions, interpretations are alike, very close. We have been good friends, we are and will be, and we will be together forever."

What has this meant in concrete terms for the United States?

Newsweek reported on December 18, 2017 that the "Islamist militant group Hezbollah exploded into a major cocaine trafficker for the United States over the past decade—and it happened under President Barack Obama's watch to help score a nuclear deal with Iran, a report revealed Monday."

There is a Cuban link that the Trump Administration should pay attention to. On February 13, 2016 Vice News reported that in 2011 Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had been warned that the Lebanese Islamist militant group Hezbollah was setting up an operational base in Cuba to carry out attacks in Latin America that might also involve attacks on American diplomatic posts or banks there. It was revealed in an e-mail from September 9, 2011 that stated the following:
The Hezbollah office in Cuba is being established under direct orders from the current General  Secretary Hasan Nasrallah, who replaced Musawi in 1992. According to the information  available to this source, in preparation for establishment of the base, Nasrallah, working from  inside of Lebanon, carried out secret negotiations with representatives of the Cuban Government,  particularly the Cuban Intelligence Service (General Intelligence Directorate — DGI), agreeing to, maintain a very low profile inside of Cuba. Nasrallah also promised to take measures to avoid any trail of evidence that could lead back to Cuba in the event of a Hezbollah attack in Latin  America.
Furthermore, the Castro regime also has a long history of involvement in drug trafficking.  There should be Congressional hearings exploring the operational Hezbollah base in Cuba and its possible involvement in drug trafficking, weapons smuggling, and terrorism in the region.

The previous Administration had a poor track record of politicizing reports to pursue political objectives. In the case of Cuba this meant watering down reports on human trafficking, looking the other way on connections to drug trafficking, terrorist groups and downplaying Cuba's role in Venezuela's crisis, and attempt to smuggle tons of heavy weapons to North Korea. It now appears that the practice was also repeated with Iran. Newsweek in the already mentioned December 18, 2017 report revealed the following:

"Project Cassandra, a campaign launched by the Drug Enforcement Administration in 2008, found that the Iran-backed military and political organization collected $1 billion a year from money laundering, criminal activities, and drug and weapons trade, according to Politico. Over the following eight years, the agency found that Hezbollah was involved in cocaine shipments from Latin America to West Africa, as well as through Venezuela and Mexico to the United States.  The Obama administration halted Project Cassandra as it was approaching the upper echelons of Hezbollah’s conspiracy in order to seal a nuclear deal with Iran, even though Hezbollah was still funneling cocaine into America."
On May 29, 2015 the Obama Administration took Cuba off the list of state sponsors of terrorism which was a mistake. Iran has been on the list of state terror sponsors since 1984 and should remain there.

The U.S. Congress and the Pompeo State Department should investigate what is going on in Cuba and its links to Hezbollah and other bad actors. If the regime in Cuba is continuing its pattern of sponsoring terrorism and international criminal enterprises then it should be returned to the list of state sponsors of terrorism.

Iran's Ahmadinejad with Communist Fidel Castro and Neo-Nazi David Duke
At a time when there is a fear of Iran seeking out asymmetric means to achieve maximum damage against United States interests, their decades long alliance with Cuba cannot and must not be ignored. Even closer to home, the relationship between the Iranian regime and white supremacists such as David Duke and anti-Semites such as Louis Farrakhan should also be closely examined.

Cuba, Iran, Hezbollah, drug trafficking and the list of state sponsors of terrorism

Explosive report exposes extent of drug trafficking by terrorist group

Boneheaded political calculations are a bipartisan affair. In October of 2008, the Bush Administration took North Korea off the list of state sponsors of terrorism in the hopes that it would “salvage a fragile nuclear deal” with the totalitarian regime. The Reagan Administration designated North Korea a terror sponsor in 1988 after it was implicated in the 1987 bombing of  a South Korean airliner, in which more than 100 died. Nine years after taking Kim Jong Un’s regime off the list of terror sponsors, North Korea has tested nuclear weapons and is now threatening to attack the United States with its new nukes.

On November 20, 2017 the White House announced that North Korea would be returned to the list of state sponsors of terrorism. North Korean dictatorship should have never been taken off the list of state terror sponsors.

The lessons from the Bush Administration’s cozying up to North Korea should have given the next Administration cause to reject pursuing a similar path with Cuba. Unfortunately, that was not the case and on May 29, 2015 the Obama Administration took Cuba off the list of state sponsors of terrorism.

Iran has been on the list of state terror sponsors since 1984 and should remain there.

The U.S. Congress and Tillerson State Department should investigate what is going on in Cuba and its links to Hezbollah and other bad actors. If the regime in Cuba is continuing its pattern of sponsoring terrorism and international criminal enterprises then it should be returned to the list of state sponsors of terrorism.
