Castroism's disaster in healthcare in Cuba, replicated in Venezuela

The New York Times has done an expose on Venezuela's psychiatric hospitals on October 1, 2016 that bears an eerie resemblance to the national psychiatric hospital in Cuba known as "Mazorra."

In July of 2014 Marc Masferrer in the blog Uncommon Sense reported on how Cuban guards were beating the patients to silence their screams, providing patients very poor quality food, and raping psychiatric patients in Mazorra. Marc posted the picture below in the post.

In January of 2010 at least 26 psychiatric patients died of exposure and hypothermia at the Cuban national psychiatric hospital and an outraged, unknown whistle blower was able to get shocking photos out of some of the victims.

The fruits of Castroism in Cuba is a 57 year long disaster both socially and politically. For many years it was successfully covered up by clever government propaganda because there is no free press. However in Venezuela there is still a remnant of liberties and it is more difficult to cover up the hunger and misery, for now.  Hugo Chavez promised to bring the happiness of the Cuban people to the people of Venezuela. Sadly both he and Maduro are making good on that promise and the results as can be seen above are the same.

 Via Uncommon Sense and the Cuban Democratic Directorate:

Three former Cuban political prisoners -- Egberto Ángel Escobedo Morales, Jorge Luís García Pérez “Antunez” and Iván Fernández Depestre were arrested Wednesday as they left the Panamanian embassy in Havana, according to the Cuban Democratic Directorate.

Why the activists were at the embassy wasn't clear, but it probably is more than a coincidence that Panama next week will host the Summit of the Americas, which has been billed as the coming out party for normalized relations between Cuba and the United States. Several Cuban dissidents are expected to participate in side events during the summit designed to highlight the poor human rights situation on the island.

As of early Wednesday evening, the whereabouts of Escobedo, Antunez and Fernandez were not known.

Palabra reports on a blog action for Darsi Ferrer, a Catholic human rights activist in Cuba, imprisoned since July 21, 2009 without trial.

Since 2006, Dr. Foster, with his wife and a group of activists have celebrated International Human Rights Day on December 10 carrying out a peaceful demonstration at 11:00 am at the park Villalón, in Calzada, D and E in Vedado. These protests have been broken up by pro-government mobs shouting, shoving protesters and sometimes dragging them through the street.

From his cell at Valle Grande prison Dr. Ferrer has called for all Cubans and foreigners in Cuba to celebrate the day of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by marching peacefully on December 10, 2009 in the same place he has done and has been brutally assaulted for his defense in his claim worthy of respect for the human person.

The plea is simple: Change in Cuba an end to repression.
For them, for all human rights in Cuba
